Pam Tzeng is a Calgary based choreographer, performer, curator and producer. Biologist turned artist, her journey has taken her to create and perform across Canada, Europe, Taiwan, United States and Brazil. Known for creating visceral and animated performances, Tzeng’s practice integrates tools and perspectives from various artistic worlds: contemporary dance, clown, puppetry, theatre and performance art. Coloured by her identity as a Canadian born Taiwanese woman, Tzeng’s work examines the negotiation between cultural borders and the tensions between traditional and contemporary mores within the Canadian “mosaic”.
Tzeng works as a performer, collaborating with independent choreographers and performing arts companies. In addition to her works as Artistic Associate Artistic Producer of Springboard Performance, she is the co-founder of to the AWE – A series of live art and performance and an active advocate for contemporary performance in Alberta.

Support the Evolution of Contemporary Dance

Donate to Dancers’ Studio West

Giving Tuesday is here and the holiday season is fast approaching. Dancers’ Studio West is working very hard to harness and focus our resources to best serve the dance community across the province of Alberta. We strive to foster the evolution of contemporary dance practice through enhancing the individual artist’s ability to develop their career.

“Due to an equal combination of a lack of resources and fear, in the past I have tended to approach creation as a solitary endeavour. The lab provided me with the support and encouragement to push through my fears and to break out of my creative bubble. It has had a profound impact on both my personal and artistic development, giving me the tools and confidence to pursue my vision with strength.”  – Linnea Swan, Associate Artist

To ensure that we keep making a positive impact on the lives of artists, we need to raise funds to increase our operational stability, to update the technology we use to remain in touch with current practices around the globe, and to add a little padding to our programs so that the outstanding artists we work with are paid wages rather than honorariums.

Dance moves our bodies and hearts, lifts the human spirit and challenges the intellect. To our audience members, dancers, choreographers, and community partners, we have exciting plans for new programming to make great dance happen, but we can’t launch it without your support. If you are wondering if a monthly donation of even $10 or a single donation of $25 can make a difference, the answer is yes. It does. A lot. Larger donations are welcome too. And your show of support to this treasured resource organization enhances our vitality and that of your community.
